Latino Social Sites

November 3rd, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

With over 22 million users online, Latinos are more prevalent than any other demographic.  It is generally accepted that this is because of their cultural sense of community and sociability.

What are some of the sites that cater to them?  They are:
Quepasa

Terra (including MiGente)
Batanga
StarMedia

…to name a few of the larger spanish language niche sites.

There are also some very interesting new comers who I think, will be interesting to watch:
MyLatinoVoice
(a relaunch of MiApogeo),
Twitteros

Blogadera

BeingLatino
LATISM

Then, there are some Spanish translated portals like hi5 (very popular in Latin America),  MSN Latino and AOL Latino (including Bebo Latino).

MySpace and Facebook have a huge general presence that is far greater than these niche networks who seem to be targeting a more specific Latino audience.  Some may feel that these larger sites are enough to reach a wide range Latino audience by their sheer user base.  Others who have a more specific target in mind may prefer the smaller specialty sites.

(I’ve left out a number of sites.  If you feel they are important enough please include in comments.)
